  • Local students learn about starting a small business from minority entrepreneurs

    Imagine your goals: SHIFT believes young people will enjoy more success if they develop a solid entrepreneurial mindset at a young age. During the summer of 2016 SHIFT Enterprise Academy hosted a youth entrepreneur workshop. At the workshop students ranging from 3rd-6th grade asked questions about owning a small business while also hearing feel good stories about handwork and dedication. This event was in partnership with the Neal Rec Center, Brazos Valley African American Heritage Museum, and HELP Educational Consulting. “In learning, there is a renewal of minds and in the renewal of minds, there is transformation.''

  • GEAR-UP and Team SHIFT engage students about setting life goals

    Help your family: SHIFT after school program addresses the challenge of integrating immigrant children and youth into their new societies. The first in-school SHIFT Enterprise Academy partnership was with GEAR-UP. Through a grant provided by Texas A&M University SHIFT Enterprise Academy recruited ten students from Bryan High School and Rudder High School in Bryan, Texas. For five consecutive weeks students from Bryan High School met for 60 minutes to learn and discuss the pillars of SHIFT. On Wednesdays, students from Rudder High School met to learn the pillars. The uniqueness about the Rudder class is that all ten enterprisers are English as Second Language students within Bryan ISD. “If you think you are too small to make a difference, you have not spent a night with a mosquito”

    Save your money : Whether its through scholarships, grants or other forms of aid, more than 2/3 of college students are receiving aid to help pay for their high education. As part of the 2012 book tour for “5 Proven Strategies on How to Pay for College,” SHIFT Enterprise Academy founder, Ethan Brisby visited two East Coast youth programs. The first stop was High School, Inc, a college preparatory and Insurance and Finance Academy in Hartford, Connecticut. Using the SHIFT pillar, Save your Money, Brisby and the students discussed proven methods to pay for their college education. SHIFT was a guest at High School, Inc of Brandon Frame, Founder/CEO of the Black Man Can foundation. “Loop holes are equally road signs to success.
